• VLC Media Player is a free, easy to use, and cross-platform multimedia player that plays almost everything! Why? Because it comes with most necessary codecs preinstalled.

1. Play a Podcast: A. Open the Playlist manager: View, Playlist. B. Subscribe to the podcast: Internet, Podcasts, +. C. Type or paste the podcast address you want to subscribe to.
2. Capture your desktop: A. Media, Open Capture Device. B. Select “Desktop” in the “Capture Mode”, modify the frame rate (30 or 60 fr/s), and in the dropdown arrow next to Play, select Convert. C. Profile, Video - H.264 + MP3 (MP4).

• Media Player Classic-Home Cinema is a light-weight, easy to use, and open source media player for Windows that supports many video, audio, and image formats out of the box.

• OBS Studio is a popular, free, and open source software for video recording and live streaming for Windows, Linux, and macOS.

• HandBrake is a tool for converting video from nearly any format to a selection of modern, widely supported codecs. It is free, open source, and multi-platform (Windows, Mac and Linux).

• Kodi is a free, open-source, software media center. It runs on Android, iOS, Windows, Linux, and macOS. Let’s configure it.

1. Add-ons, Install from repository, Kodi Add-on repository, Video Add-ons and add YouTube, Crackle, Pluto.TV or Popcornflix add-ons.

2. Settings, System, Add-ons, and enable Unknown sources.

3. Add a new source (external repository): Settings, File Manager, Add Source (Check https://www.wirelesshack.org/) and a name (e.g., Crew).

4. Go back to the main menu and click Add-ons, Add-on Package Installer (the open-box icon at the top-left), Install from zip file, and select the new source (e.g., Crew, repository.thecrew-0.3.4.zip). Wait for the Repository to download, Install from repository, repository (e.g., The Crew Repo), Video add-ons, Repository (e.g., The Crew), Install.

• Audacity is a free and open-source digital audio editor and recording application software, available for Windows, macOS, and Linux.

1. Import an audio file: File, Import, Audio.
2. Just like editing a text, you can cut, copy, paste, and delete parts of your recording.
3. Trim Audio: highlight your selection, and apply the trim by going to Edit, Remove Special, Trim Audio. It will delete any part of the file no highlighted.
4. Increase Volume: highlight the desired selection, navigate to Effect, Amplify. Set the New Peak Amplitude to -3.0 db and ensure “Allow Clipping” is unchecked.
5. Noise Reduction: select the region of your clip containing the noise, navigate to Effects, Noise Removal, and clic on Get Noise Profile. Next, select and highlight the part of your clip you want to remove the background noise, and go to Effects, Noise Removal.
6. Change Pitch, Speed, or Tempo: select the region of your clip you want to change, and go to Effect, Change Pitch, Speed or Tempo. You can apply a variety of effects, such as echo (it repeats the audio you have selected again and again, Effect, Echo…), reverse (it reverses the selected audio, so that the end of the audio will be heard first and the beginning last), or distortion; generate noise (Generate, Noise…) or silence (Generate, Silence…), etc.
7. Normalize Audio. It is used to match the volume levels across different clips or make the original file louder. Select the region of your clip you want to change, and go to Effects, Normalize.
8. Export Audio: File, Export, Export as MP3/Export as WAV/Export as OGG.

• DaVinci Resolve is a free and popular video editing software. It is used by professionals and amateurs alike. It works on Mac OS, Windows, and Linux. It comes in two versions; the limited free version and the fully featured studio version. The free version is robust on its own and has the capacity to do most of what an average user will need on a day-to-day basis.
• Nuclear Music Player (Windows: choco install nuclear; Mac: brew install ‐‐cask nuclear; Arch: yay -s nuclear-player-bin) is a free music streaming app that allow its users to listen to music from many services.
• Music players in Windows: MusicBee is a free and easy to use application for Windows that will let you find, organize, and play music on your PC. It supports podcasts, web radio stations, and SoundCloud integration. AIMP is another option for playing audio files. Spotify really needs no explanation and finally, iHeartRadio is a free broadcast, podcast, and streaming radio platform.
• Music players in GNU/Linux. Lollypop is a modern music player for GNOME (GNU/Linux). Olivia helps you discover new music and videos like no other service does (sudo snap install olivia). curseradio-improved is a web radio with an intuitive terminal-based user interface. Keys: s stop playing stream; q quit, and Enter, play. Shortwave helps you find and listen to internet radio stations.
