Make sure that you can win the confrontation. The essential question that you need to ask is this: Who has got the upper hand?
If your adversary has the upper hand because he is the boss, the manager, the director, etc. do not get involved in it, avoid confrontation, let it go: “Two do not fight if one chooses not to.”
If you can confront that person and be honest, find the right place and time, explain the problem calmly, and propose solutions in order to move forward.

Orbiting this at a distance of roughly ninety-two million miles is an utterly insignificant little blue green planet whose ape-descended life forms are so amazingly primitive that they still think digital watches are a pretty neat idea, Douglas Adams, The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy.

Earth sciences are the study of the Earth, its structure, composition, history and resources. It is really an umbrella umbrella term for the disciplines of geology, meteorology, climatology, hydrology, oceanography, and astronomy.

What are they?

They are more than old but familiar catchy sayings. They are brief and memorable expressions of popular wisdom.
A better definition is given by Mieder as: “A proverb is a short, generally known sentence of the folk which contains wisdom, truth, morals, and traditional views in a metaphorical, fixed and memorizable form and which is handed down from generation to generation.”
